Meridian Group today announced the appointment of Hendrik van der Berg as Chief Sustainability Officer, effective immediately. Van der Berg will lead the Sustainability division and the group-wide ESG office.
Van der Berg joins from a fifteen-year career in renewable infrastructure development, most recently overseeing utility-scale solar deployment across three continents.
“Meridian’s approach of running sustainability as a full operating division, not a reporting function, is what drew me here,” van der Berg said. “The emissions targets are only credible if the division delivering them is judged on the same numbers as Industrial or Capital.”
Van der Berg succeeds an interim sustainability lead who held the role during the division’s first eighteen months of operation.
